Dear Friends and Members,
I have now been six months in post as the Minister (part-time) in Arbirlot and Carmyllie Churches. I am aware there are many of you I have not yet met, so thought I would introduce myself further by letter and assure you that I hope to visit more of the members eventually.
I had retired from full-time charge in Upper Donside in Aberdeenshire and went to live in Kirriemuir. From Kirriemuir I did some pulpit supply and was Locum at Edzell and Fern for two years. When I saw this charge advertised I felt God was calling me here and so it has worked out. We are – my wife, Esther, and I – enjoying living in the Manse and getting to know the area. We both intend to be as involved as possible in the life of both communities and to get to know as many folk as possible.
I have been welcomed in both Primary Schools and we hope to attract children and their families. This takes time, however. At Christmas we had 14 children at a Craft day and we are planning an Easter craft and activity day on April 2nd. All children are welcome from 10.30 a.m. to 12 noon in Carmyllie Church Hall. Still with regard to children I want to assure you that children are welcome at every Service where there will be a talk designed for children and the opportunity for them to do pictures etc. during the latter part of the Service.
Communion in both Churches will be on March 26th. We will be involved in Holy Week Services with the Carnoustie Churches. On Wednesday April 13th the Service for these Churches will be in Carmyllie in the evening at 7 p.m. (See separate note below.) On Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday our own Services at 9.30 a.m. in Carmyllie and 11 a.m. in Arbirlot will be joyful and for all ages from 0 to 100! I hope to meet some folk I haven’t met at some of these Services.
If you would like, or feel you need, a visit, please contact me.
Let me assure you that if you have not been coming to Church because you felt it was cold, that measures are in place and that the situation has improved; or if you feel awkward about coming back after a break that you will be made very welcome.
I look forward to meeting you.
